Your girl made it to 2024, and somehow made it to February. So we’re counting both of those as a win.
As we’re entering into February I’m really trying to focus on getting back to basics. For me, getting back to basics means getting back in touch with my basic needs. So in a day, I want to eat a minimum of 3 meals a day, create space to meditate, and move my body. Now, I recognize these things aren’t rocket science and from an outsiders perspective may be too simple. But for me that’s not the case.
I want to build a stronger foundation for my selfcare-ing. And for me, that means starting with the basics. So, here’s my plan for each of these goals.
In order to eat 3 meals a day, I will start
- Eating Breakfast At Home
My logic is, if I eat breakfast at home I already have a win before I leave the house. And I won’t procrastinate on eating when I get to work.
2. Set Alarms and Calendar Reminders to Eat
The way my appetite is set up, my hunger ques are not always firing during the traditional meal eating times (Which I’ve come to terms with), but that doesn’t mean I don’t need to eat. So the more reminders I have the more likely I am to eat…Hypothetically.
To start meditating, I will start
3. Waking Up Earlier
I love my bed. We have a great relationship. One could even say toxic because I never want to leave lol. Which leaves me typically pressed for time in the morning. My hope is that by waking up earlier I can create time to meditate and not just give up because I’m rushing to work in the mornings.
4. Start Going to Yoga (again)
I’mma be real with y’all, I have a yoga membership that I haven’t utilized in the past 3 months. And I keep it because I keep telling myself I’m going to go but then I don’t. But at the end of the day, yoga is a space that helps me meditate and feel grounded. So this month we’re going to try (again) to start going to yoga.
To start moving my body daily, I will start
5. Attending Yoga 2 to 3x per week
*Please refer to answer number 4* . And yoga is my preferred form of movement at the moment. So until that changes, here we are.
6. Go on Daily Walks
Will I start walking to work, probably not (Though I could). But I think a 10 minute walk around the neighborhood would help me move and transition me between work and home life. Or even during my lunch, if I’m feeling fancy.
These aren’t new goals but they’re ones that are important to me. So, follow me on Instagram @miaisadulting to get the tea on how it’s going.
